Alpine skiing is a group of ski-related events at the Winter Olympics. It includes downhill skiing, super g, giant slalom, and slalom. In the downhill event, skiers travel at high speeds down the mountain course, traveling at high speeds. In the slalom events, skiers go somewhat slower, as they have to turn around gates gates. Slalom differs from giant slalom, in that the gates are spaced at tighter intervals. The length of the downhill course is longest, while the slalom course is shortest.
